Hi, hello! I’m Alejandra Valera, a fiction and academic writer focusing on gender and race in the U.S. I’m a first-generation Latina born and raised in Chicago and still live in the area.
In the world of fiction, I’m currently working on my first novel, a queer Latinx romance that deals with toxic masculinity, homophobia in sports, and colorism.
In the academic realm, my work concentrates on the areas of gender and sexuality, race, toxic masculinity, transnational parenting, and research methodology in creative writing.
